Help for refugees abroad
If you want to support refugees in Ukraine and around the world you can donate to the charities that are already on the ground. There are two safe and secure ways where your gift can support those most in need:
- The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) https://www.dec.org.uk/appeal/ukraine-humanitarian-appeal brings together 15 leading aid charities to raise funds quickly and efficiently at times of crisis overseas. Pooling their resources to work as one, they are pivotal in co-ordinating the UK public’s response to overseas disasters. They have immediate impact, getting aid to people who need it, fast. They have appeals for both Ukraine and Afghanistan.
- The USPG-Diocese in Europe Emergency Appeal https://ukraine-emergency-appeal.raisely.com/ is looking to support the front line work of chaplaincies across Europe as well as Christian charities carrying out humanitarian work both in Ukraine and responding to the arrival of refugees in neighbouring countries.
Although we appreciate the willingness and generosity many wish to show in the charitable collection of toys, clothes and bedding we would urge you to avoid this approach as it is often inappropriate and not what is most needed on the ground.

How to bring a fundraising event to life.
The best way is to get family and friends to help you.
- Think about what you want to do.
- Where will the event be held?
- Do I need help? Who will help me?
- Will I need a license? Insurance? Council permission?
Let us have your ideas so we can add them to the list.
Other forms of help
Translation
If you, or someone you know, can speak Ukrainian, Russian, Hungarian, Polish, German, Czech, Romanian or Moldovan then those language skills could be very useful in translation work. That includes through Translators Without Borders https://translatorswithoutborders.org/ who are supporting many refugees in translating and understanding forms and procedures.
