There are lots of ways that we can help. We all need ideas and encouragement so let us know what you are doing and we will publish them here.

These are some of the events that have taken place so far:

Steyning Ukrainian Refuge

A CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation) has been set up to look after Ukrainian refugees centred around the use of Brotherhood Hall, which was part of the Church Street campus of Steyning Grammar School, and is now redundant as a school but remains owned by the SGS Foundation. The plan is to provide a Day Centre to support all refugees locally together with living accommodation for a small number of families.

A Summer’s Evening with the Patcham Silver Band

Massive thanks to the Patcham Silver Band, all those who helped, those who came to the concert in July 2022 and those who donated. We had a wonderful evening and raised over £1800.00 which will go to support our local Ukrainian refugee families.

Congratulations to Ashurst W.I.

Their Coffee Morning and Bring and Buy Sale on Saturday 2nd April raised £1,744 for the Red Cross Ukraine Appeal. Thanks to everyone who donated, worked hard to set things up and supported the event. A great result.

The Crescent fundraiser

On 16th March 2022 The Crescent residents held a pie and mash lunch to raise money for Ukraine. Generous people provided tables, tableware, food (including luscious puds), and wine, and gave up their time before, during, and after, to create a really special day. The Crescent has a long history of creating and enjoying community fundraising events, and this was amongst the most successful, raising £1255 for the Ukraine appeal.

The Hub Cafe Donate to the DEC Ukraine Appeal

The Hub Cafe in Upper Beeding donated all takings for two weeks to the DEC Ukraine appeal. Together with additional donations they were able to send a total of £1573.00. A fantastic result. Well done The Hub!!

A Vigil for Ukraine

Prayerful action has the motivation for a large group of Christians from all the local churches to attend Prayer Vigil at mid-day on various Sundays outside the church of Christ The King. Even when rain fell throughout, as in this picture of the first vigil in March 2022, it did not dampen the spirit moving among us.
